• Emma Whitehead, CEO.

RSPCA Queensland is delighted to announce the appointment of Emma Whitehead as its new Chief Executive Officer. Emma steps into the role with a wealth of experience and a strong vision for the future of animal welfare in Queensland.

Emma has over 30 years' experience in the statutory and not-for-profit sectors with a background in health services, policy and research in the UK and Australia. She has led multisector partnerships, negotiated complex agreements, built productive, outcomes-driven teams, and overseen large-scale business transformations.

Her experience in the for-purpose space is underpinned by a deep sense of social justice and a lifelong commitment to advocating for those with no voice, including animals and the natural world.

“We’re confident that Emma's fresh perspective and strategic insights will continue to strengthen our efforts to protect and advocate for animals across the state,” says Louise Cox, RSPCA Qld Chairperson. "Her leadership will be instrumental as we reinforce and streamline our services for the greatest animal impact."

Outside of work, Emma enjoys spending time in nature, attending the theatre, staying active, reading, and connecting with friends and family. She also treasures time with her beloved dog, Millie.

RSPCA Queensland would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to Kylie Sprott, RSPCA Queensland Deputy Chair of the Board, who stepped into the role of Interim CEO over the past five months. Her strategic leadership and passion helped steer the charity through a critical transition period.

Looking ahead, RSPCA Queensland is focused on operational excellence to ensure every donor dollar is invested wisely, delivering maximum impact for animals in need. Under Emma’s leadership, the charity is confident in its continued growth and unwavering commitment to the welfare of all creatures great and small.
